Rydal Mead
Location: Loddington, Northamptonshire
The original 3 bed 1970’s bungalow, still with its original kitchen and pink bathroom suite was transformed into a four-bed house with large family room, separate lounge, playroom and office.
The site had been heavily covenanted by the previous owners to prevent the demolition of the house and to include a restriction of the height of any future development.
IDEA honoured the existing external 1970’s aesthetics and applied only sympathetic cosmetic changes to the elevations, leaving the majority of the original structure intact.
The transformation was completed with a modern zinc clad extension using a glass link to transition between the existing and new architecture, allowing the owners to really imprint their personalities on the property. This created a large family home fit for 21st century living.
